Our calculators provide rule-of-thumb estimates for general information. They don't account for every feature of your home, such as window types, duct condition, air leakage or local design temperatures. Results are not engineering, design or installation advice, and they are not a substitute for a load calculation (such as ACCA Manual J) carried out by a qualified, licensed HVAC professional.
Always confirm equipment sizing with a licensed contractor before buying or installing heating or cooling equipment, and follow local building codes and manufacturer instructions.
Safety
HVAC equipment involves high voltage, refrigerants and, for furnaces, combustion gases. Don't attempt electrical, refrigerant or gas work unless you are qualified to do so. If you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, leave the building and call your gas utility or 911.

We work hard to keep the calculators and guides accurate and current, but the site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Standards, prices and products change, and we can't guarantee that every figure is complete or up to date.
